Does it cost to fish?

No, but it does cost to catch! Our price is $4.50 a pound. Average size is 1-2 lbs. Our fish are fed the best feed, and grow in a 14' deep, spring-fed pond, producing excellent taste!

How big is the cabin?

The cabin is 600 square feet with a 8x20 foot front porch facing the pond.  Rumor has it that it was moved to its current location in the late 1930's, and was at one time a dance hall on what is now known as NC Highway 18. It sits adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile 248.

It currently has a bedroom, kitchen and living room. The 1/2 bath and shower are at the end of the bedroom. It has been redecorated with all new furnishings and appliances this year and includes a washer/dryer combination.

The original oak floors have been retained in the bedroom and living room. The bedroom has a queen size bed and the living room has a large solid wood futon which opens to a double size bed with a 6" mattress, a large comfortable chair and slate side/coffee tables.

It has a small gas fireplace for heat and air conditioning. Wi-fi is sometimes available at no charge.

What is there to do in Laurel Springs?

We happen to love our remote, quiet location. We are, however, in the center of the western mountain tourist region. Located within yards of the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is lots to do and see within a reasonable distance. Spend the day touring, shopping, eating, hiking, birding, picture taking, or whatever pleases your fancy. But at the end of the day, kick back and enjoy the solitude in our antique rockers on your front porch. Perhaps catch a trout for dinner, cooked on a grill to perfection.

Todd - The Todd General Store

On Highway 194, about 20 minutes from Boone. The general store is a true mercantile of days gone by and has been in operation since 1914. Displayed throughout the store are memorabilia from the early 1900s. On Friday nights, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. locals offer "homemade jam" but you cannot eat it. It is live music played around the pot bellied stove on fiddle, dulcimer, banjo or whatever other instruments the players bring.
